Health Food Shop Worker at Myriad Organics, Ludlow

Myriad Organics is an organic health food shop situated in Ludlow, Shropshire. The shop occupies a large premises just out of the town centre selling a wide range of organic fruit & veg and groceries including dried goods, tinned goods, bread, dairy and meat as well as plants, low impact household goods, natural bodycare products, remedies and supplements.

KEY FUNCTION:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join the team at Myriad. The role will be split between shop floor duties, warehouse duties, gathering orders and occasional driving.

HOURS OF WORK:

Myriad is open between 9:00 and 5:15 Monday to Friday and 9:00 and 5:00 on Saturdays. Some flexibility is possible, but we are ideally looking for someone to work 3 – 5 days per week including Saturdays. Working hours are 9:00 to 5:30 with a half hour (unpaid) lunch break. You will also be asked to work extra hours to help cover holiday absences.

 MAIN TASKS:

  1. Serving customers, handling money and answering enquiries either face to face or by telephone.
  2. Receiving deliveries from suppliers. Checking them against paperwork and reporting any shortfall or damage.
  3. Handling stock in the stockroom and shopfloor. Keeping shelves stocked and ensuring correct stock rotation. Restocking fresh produce and dried goods in self-service dispensers.
  4. Packing fruit & veg and groceries into boxes to customer orders. Labelling, recording and storing orders.
  5. Loading orders into the delivery van ensuring orders are complete. Occasionally delivering orders to homes and other businesses on pre-determined routes.
  6. Cleaning and tidying duties in the shop and pack-house.
  7. Assisting with paperwork duties to include processing orders and customer enquiries, stock-taking and placing order from suppliers and growers.
  8. Assisting with marketing work including social media.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES

  1. Experience: Telephone skills. Sales or customer service experience. Good numeracy skills. Clean driver’s licence. Previous management experience would be a great asset.
  2. Motivation and interests: Whole-foods, nutrition, organic food, ecological matters. Co-operative working. Team player who enjoys responsibility.
  3. Special aptitudes: Ability to deal with customers both in person and by phone in a professional, positive and confident manner. Knowledge of computers either in Word or Excel.
  4. Personality and disposition: Confident, calm and accurate under pressure. Good communication skills. Enjoys doing more than one thing at a time, multitasking. Has a positive attitude towards their work environment and colleagues.
